The new gears (16x45) are treating me right. 45 MPH and as much low end torque as I could squeeze out of it was the goal.

I still need to do some tuning. Timing first then the carb.

This is the most recent photo of the ‘78 Pinto. I have a handful of things still on the task list:

  • Swap 2 piece pedal crank for my 3 piece
  • Put on new pedal arms
  • New pedals
  • Put on new front (16) and rear (45) sprockets
  • Finish up the tail light mount (make it look purdy)
  • Run some tubing from the carb runoffs back and out the bottom of the subframe
  • Tune: timing, jetting
  • New clutch gasket (p.s. don’t buy teflon … they leak http://www.themopedgarage.com/puch-engine-gasket-set)

Thanks again to Steve for the guidance on mounting the tail light.

The new case is matched and built. I just need to put the top end back together and then it’s mount up and tune time.

Might have just found a good tail light solution for the Pinto. I think this will fit right under the frame where I removed the book rack.

My new (e50) case halves arrived. Time to get this thing rebuilt. Lookout spring!

Almost 40 on Sunday! That is riding weather. Must finish the Pinto.
